Privacy Policy

1. Summary

• We don't ask for your name, email or address to use Utalio.
• Your quiz answers live in your plan's link and your browser. We don't store them on our servers.
• To write your plan, your answers are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic.
• Google shows ads on Utalio and may use cookies. Visitors in Europe are asked for consent first.
• We never sell your personal information.

2. Information we process

Quiz answers. These include your citizenship, Italian ancestry, work situation, income ranges, savings, preferences, household and any optional notes you write. Your answers are encoded into the address (URL) of your results page so you can reload or share your plan. When you generate a plan, they are sent to our server and passed to Anthropic to write the plan, then discarded. We don't keep them in a database. Anyone you share your plan link with can see the answers it contains.

Browser storage. We save your generated plan in your browser's session storage, which clears when you close the tab, so reloading doesn't generate it again.

Technical data. Like any website, our host receives your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time. We use your IP address briefly, in memory only, to limit how many AI plans can be generated per hour (abuse prevention). Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for a short period for security and debugging.

Emails you send us. If you contact us, we receive your email address and message, and use them only to respond.

3. Why we process it (legal bases)

• To provide the plan you request (performance of a service you asked for): processing your quiz answers.
• Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure, preventing abuse and understanding basic usage.
• Consent: personalized advertising cookies for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. You can withdraw consent at any time.

4. Advertising and cookies

Utalio is free because it shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, to limit how often you see an ad, and to measure ad performance.

• Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland see a Google-certified consent message, and can accept, reject or customize advertising cookies.
• Anyone can opt out of personalized ads at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

Utalio itself does not set tracking cookies. Session storage (above) is used only to hold your plan in your own browser.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers that help us run Utalio:

• Vercel Inc.: Website hosting and server logs (privacy policy)
• Anthropic, PBC: AI processing of quiz answers to write your plan (privacy policy)
• Google LLC (AdSense): Advertising, ad measurement and consent management (privacy policy)
• Google Fonts: Web fonts (self-hosted at build time; no requests to Google from your browser) (privacy policy)

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Utalio or others. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond the Google advertising described above.

6. International transfers

Our providers are based in the United States, and data may be processed there. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep data

• Quiz answers: not stored by Utalio. They exist in your link and browser.
• Rate-limit counters: in memory for up to one hour.
• Server logs: retained by our host for a limited period under its policies.
• Emails to us: kept as long as needed to handle your request.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you;
• object to or restrict processing, or withdraw consent;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (California and other US states);
• lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

Because we don't keep accounts or stored quiz answers, there is usually nothing to delete. To exercise any right, email grazie@utalio.net.

9. Children

Utalio is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, our AI API key is kept server-side, and we collect minimal data by design. No method of transmission is 100% secure, so please don't include sensitive details (passport numbers, account numbers, health information) in the optional notes field.

11. Changes

We'll update this policy as Utalio evolves, and change the "Last updated" date above when we do.
